It’s no surprise that after natural wood cabinetry gained popularity, flooring would follow in its footsteps. This year flooring brands are showing new hardwood styles with warmer tones and rustic character that reflect nature in shades like honey, caramel and walnut. “Mid-tone wood floors, neither too dark nor too light, are a good choice. This wood tone creates balance in modern interiors,” suggests Angela. After all, flooring is the foundation to great design, influencing everything from paint, textiles and furniture choices.

Matte finishes are also a growing tending. Not only in flooring, but cabinetry, paint and virtually anything in home remodeling. Matte finishes are more forgiving when it comes to scratches, dust, and footprints, making them a practical choice for busy households.
